Crossroads Church Blog Thingy

Truth that transforms... or at least makes you think...

Welcome to the Crossroads Church blog.  I started this blog as I'm reading through the Bible and wanted a forum to discuss topics/passages that struck my interest or may have intrigued others.

I've also added categories for leadership and general church stuff.

If you are new to blogs, you don't have to leave your name for others to see.  You have to leave an email for the blogmaster, but a pseudonym is cool for others to see.  Don't worry about making mistakes!  Be creative, jump in. respond to an entry or email me to suggest a new topic.

peace,

m

Words have incredible power.  As I prepare to say words this Sunday about words, I think back to the words I've heard people speak to me this week or even this morning.

Some have been encouraging and strengthened me.
Some have been discouraging and weary me.
Some have been on the neutral side and didn't have much of an effect on me either way.

Then, I think about the words I've said to my family, friends, strangers... and I wonder what impact they've had.  I wonder about the words I'm typing and you're reading... will they make a difference...

May the words of my mouth and the words of your mouth be pleasing to God and to those who hear them today.

My friend Carrie has been blogging some encouraging words... if you'd like to an encouraging thought for the day try this...  http://approachthethrone.blogspot.com/

Encouraging words are easy to listen to, but hard to hang on to. Things said in anger and despair are what stick in peoples minds. Even if they are not what is truly in the speakers heart when said. Not much is known (by me) on how to deal with these unkind words in a Godly manner. I have done what seemed right to me, due the meaning of what was said. It was most likely just easiest to separate myself from the speaker. NOT saying words of encouragement, has just as much effect as saying discouraging words. They both shape people for good or bad as soon as something is said-or not said.

Sheet Metal is the same way. Once the hammer fall of words hits it, it has been permanently formed. Nothing but remelting the metal can take out the shaping that has happened.

Choose words carefully. Form good things with encouraging words today. What is made now will either be something helpful to you and others, or something that will only cause problems and be scrap metal in the trash.

Excellent thoughts and analogy gmonkey. Thanks for the reminder. I needed it!

The remelting process is never fun.
